The environments that I create have always focused around telling a story. The subjects may vary, but I always want things to have multiple levels of meaning--something that's easily accessible to everyone who looks at it, with no background, but also with additional detail or meaning to people more familiar with my work. Clarity is the most important thing, although that can exist on different levels. Even if the viewer doesn't understand what's going on, I hope to still gain their attention through technical skill, or providing something that's visually interesting.

ABOUT

I am an artist born in Virginia and have spent my life here. Like most artists, I have been interested in drawing since I was very young, and have mostly wanted to use it to tell stories, which created my interests in animation and graphic novels. However, I initially came to Virginia Tech in the Interior Design program, which cultivated an interest in the 3D and physical environments before I transferred into art. I consider my work to be a merging of the two, focusing on how the environment can reflect the character and/or the story that is being told, and how the environment is a character all of its own. I am fascinated by the use of environments both by artists and by everyday people, and how they are similar and different in their approaches.
